Introduction (ITDR) | /| |\ \====================================================================/ \/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ What is Pokémon Rumble? It is a game developed by Ambrella, the same company that developed My Pokémon Ranch. While the latter is merely a storage system to be utilized with Pokémon Diamond and Pearl (and Platinum in Japan), Scramble is an entirely different species: it's a whole video game of its own. This game can be purchased through WiiWare for a nominal fee of 1,500 Nintendo Points, which equates to $15 US or 1,500¥. After paying, the game can be downloaded to your console or SD card for playing. This is also the first Pokémon Rumble guide to be released, written by me, Cat333Pokémon (the same one that makes Mario Paint compositions on YouTube). Just like any other guide, this one comes with typical rules. That information is in the Copyright section of this guide. == NOTICE == All information provided in this guide is based on the Japanese version. As the American English version has been released, it will be updated to present more relevant information. /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\ /====================================================================\ \| |/ | 1.1 Version History (VRHS) | /| |\ \====================================================================/ \/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ The newest version of this guide can always be found at: http://floatzel.net/pokemon/scramble1.txt 0.1 (July 16, 2009) Preliminary information organized, including introduction, version history, how to play, menus, and the Terminal. How To Play/Controls (CTLS) | /| |\ \====================================================================/ \/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ There are two ways to play this game: with a Wii Remote turned sideways, with (only) the Nunchuk, with the Classic Controller, or with a GameCube controller. (A Super Nintendo controller with a SNES-GCN adapter will also work.) At the beginning, however, you can only use the Wii Remote. And the Wii Remote is the only controller that can navigate the title menu. Here are the controls for this game: ============================================================================== | COMMAND | WIIMOTE | GAMECUBE | SNES | NUNCHUK | CLASSIC * | ============================================================================== | First Attack | 2 | A | A | Z | A | | Second Attack | 1 | B | B | C | B | | Move | D-pad | Stick/D-pad | D-pad | Stick | Stick/D-pad | | Change Pokémon | A | X/Y | X/Y | C+Z | X/Y | | Pause Menu | + | Start-Pause | Start | ####### | Start | | Mark Favorite PKM | - | Z | Select | ####### | Select | | Home Menu | Home | ########### | ###### | ####### | Home | ============================================================================== * I do not own the Classic Controller, so the controls listed may be incorrect. The Nunchuk controller cannot be used alone and must be connected to a Wii Remote. At least one controller with a pause button must be active. The game saves all the time and definitely after any purchases or releases. (Sorry, but you can't cheat and continuously reset until you get a favorite Pokémon out of the Recruitment Center.) Each Pokémon has two attacks. Just like in the main series games, each of those attacks can vary from Pokémon to Pokémon. At a lottery in the Terminal, it is possible to win new moves. (This will be discussed in more detail in the relevant section.) If you have no idea what a given move does, give it a try by pressing the respective attack button. To obtain more Pokémon, you must use your own Pokémon in battle. Travel through the six courses in each grade and use your attacks against the wild Pokémon. When you defeat one, they will drop a coin (1P, 10P, or 100P denominations); these can be used to buy new Pokémon or moves in the Terminal. Sometimes, instead of dropping a coin, a Pokémon will collapse. Then it's yours for the taking: simply pick it up and it's yours! However, keep in mind that if you collect more than 1,000 Pokémon, the game will instruct you to release some. Whenever you want to switch Pokémon, you will be totally defenseless. The game does not pause while browsing the Pokémon selection menu, so hurry it up and don't peruse! When you find a Pokémon you want, simply press the first attack button, or press the change Pokémon button to cancel. The new Pokémon will be wound up and sent onto the field to replace the one in action. Be careful, however, as your Pokémon can only collapse TWICE. If a third one collapses, the game is over and you'll be sent back to the Terminal. When a Pokémon begins to lose HP and the bar is low (and maybe a warning sound is dinging), scurry to a corner where you have a couple seconds and switch. If your Pokémon gets hit during this time, the switching will be canceled. If the game is in multiplayer, if ANY player loses three times, the game is over for everyone. When you lose, all money and Pokémon are retained. Upon clearing several areas in each course, a large open area will appear. In the center of this area is a large boss Pokémon. These Pokémon tend to overheat often and neither attack nor can be attacked. During the rest of the battle, attack it like any other Pokémon while avoiding the cohorts coming in from all around. It has a very large amount of HP. Sometimes, if you get lucky, you can collect the boss after battle. A very large sum of money awaits the victor. Once the boss is defeated (or you fail to complete the round before falling three times), the round end statistics appear. First, you'll see the number of Pokémon defeated, one bar for each player. Then, you'll see all of the Pokémon you collected on that course. After several courses have been completed, the Battle Royal opens up. This stage is unlike the six courses out front. There is a time limit that starts at 60 seconds. By defeating Pokémon and collecting clocks, you'll be able to gain more time (5 seconds per clock collected). As you tough it out, more Pokémon will steadily appear until a few bosses come along. Like the large ones in the ordinary courses, these will have a lot of HP. Unlike those, however, they will not overheat or go berserk. Oh, and you can't switch out unless you faint, so choose your Pokémon wisely. A barrage of Pokémon will continue until either time runs out, three of your Pokémon fall, or all of the monsters are defeated. In the former two cases, you lose the round and return to the Terminal. In the latter case, you win the round, receive a hefty prize, and unlock the next grade (or the next mode)! Good luck! /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\ /====================================================================\ \| |/ | 2.1. Menus (MNUS) | /| |\ \====================================================================/ \/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ Quite a bit of the game is based around the menu system. Knowing what the menu options do is crucial to playing the game. == TITLE MENU == The Title Menu is where the game starts up. If you have at least one save file, there are three options: New Game, Continue, and Options; Continue isn't available unless save data exists. Options allows you to erase a file or configure GameCube controller rumble. On the file selection menu, you can see the last date and time playing a file, who the active Pokémon is, and what grade you last saved on. After selecting a file to continue, you then have the option of what mode to play on. If all have been unlocked, you can choose from Normal (Kanto Pokémon only), Another (Sinnoh Pokémon added), or Extra (a bonus mode with harder difficulty). == PAUSE MENU == When the game is paused, several options appear for you to choose: - Continue - Return to Title/Terminal - Take Picture - SD Card - Multiplayer Continue, obviously, unpauses the game and returns to the action. Return to Terminal will take you back to the Terminal, but everything you've earned since then will be lost. If already in the Terminal, Return to Title will simply exit the game and save. Take Picture will take a picture of everything on the screen, including all the text boxes and damage values. SD Card has one sub-option other than Cancel: wipe all pictures on the SD card. Multiplayer brings up a menu showing up to four controllers for 1-4 players. On all controllers that will be used, press the button shown (A or 2) and select a Pokémon (B or 1 to cancel). Once all active players have selected one, press Start/+ to begin. Remember, everyone must stay together or the screen won't scroll! This option only appears in the Terminal. == POKÉMON SELECT MENU == On the select menu, you can select a Pokémon to switch to or mark as a favorite. Favorite Pokémon appear at the top of the list at all times. If you enter the select menu, and then pause the game, a different menu will appear with these options (This sub-menu only appears on the Terminal Pokémon select menu.): - Refine - Sorting - Take Picture A sub-menu appears from the Refine option: - Pokémon Type - Move Type - Ability - Obtaining Method - Cancel Selecting any of these options (sans Cancel) allows you to see a list of different types/et cetera that you can use to refine the Pokémon list. A sub-menu appears from the Sorting option: - Strongest first - Weakest first - Newest first - Oldest first - Name - Pokédex Number - Cancel Selecting any of these options (except Cancel) will re-organize the list in the order chosen. /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\ /====================================================================\ \| |/ | 2.2 Using This Guide (UTGU) | /| |\ \====================================================================/ \/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ This guide is fairly easy to use, so this section is fairly short. The Terminal (TRML) | /| |\ \====================================================================/ \/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ There are several different things that can be found in the Terminal. == TRAMPOLINES == The upper-left corner may contain a trampoline. If one is there, it will send you to the next lowest grade than the one you are currently on. The upper-right corner may also contain a trampoline. On the contrary, this one will send you to the next highest grade than the one you are currently on. To open this up (unless you are on S grade), you must first complete the Battle Royal for that grade. The upper-center area contains the Battle Royal trampoline. To open the large door in front, you must complete several of the courses. Upon jumping on this, you are sent to a small room to prepare for the bout. The middle area contains six more trampolines. Each of these leads to a course. Once the course has been completed, the ring around the outside of the image on the floor will light up. Completing these will help unlock the Battle Royal by allowing you to capture Pokémon that exceed that grade's strength threshold. Standing near a completed course trampoline will show you which Pokémon you have captured, which you have not, and whether or not there are any you haven't yet seen. Not all shown Pokémon appear in every round. == KIOSKS == The lower area contains seven kiosks of sorts. These will be described in left- to-right order, top row first. RECRUITMENT The red kiosk is the recruitment center. Here, you can buy a random Pokémon (which comes with two random moves) at a strength level comparable to the Pokémon in that grade's courses. Of course, the cost to purchase these Pokémon increases along with your grade. You can also enter passwords here, which are revealed by official sources, for special "event" Pokémon. The passwords are discussed in a later section. There is a limit of 1,000 Pokémon that you may have in-game. If you collect more than that, you'll need to release some. RELEASING The blue kiosk is the selling center. Here, you can effectively release your Pokémon. When they leave, some money will be left behind. If certain combinations are released (such as five of the same line), a ticket is dropped. These tickets can be used to obtain different Pokémon. More information in the Ticketing section. WARNING: A released Pokémon cannot be gotten back. Once released, it is gone! MOVE LOTTERY The wheel-shaped kiosk is a move lottery. Pay a pretty penny and a Pokémon of your choice can learn a random (learnable) move. You can then choose which slot you want to assign it to. Be careful, because a Pokémon can only learn two moves. Once it forgets a move, it cannot re-learn it unless you win it in the lottery again. WII REMOTE TRANSFER The Wii Remote kiosk allows you to send a few Pokémon to your Wii Remote. The Pokémon can be migrated back to a friend's console for usage. (For those familiar with transferring Miis in the Mii Channel, the process is similar.) MULTIPLAYER The kiosk with a pair of players sets up multiplayer. This menu is the same as the one on the pause menu. Up to four players can participate with either a Wii Remote or GameCube controller. COLLECTION The crown kiosk shows your complete collection of Pokémon. Ones that are colored in have been caught. (Ones with alternate colors have been found in rarer "shiny" form.) Ones that are grayed out have been seen, but not captured. Question marks have not yet been seen. Once Normal Mode has been completed, the second catalog of Pokémon will be added to the list. INFORMATION The final kiosk, labeled "Information", allows you to see a variety of game statistics, such as play time, most damage dealt, money obtained, and Pokémon defeated. /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\ /====================================================================\ \| |/ | 4. Normal Mode (NRMM) | /| |\ \====================================================================/ \/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ Upon starting a new game, you are given the story of the Pokémon toys and about Mewtwo, the Battle Royal champion. A Rattata sneaks into the Battle Royal area and takes on the fight. For you, the player, the game begins. Instructions appear telling you to use the D-pad to move and the 2 button to attack. Jump on the trampoline to begin the Battle Royal. Don't bother wasting your time because you'll lose anyaway; it's rigged like that. The door will close and you'll be sent to the Terminal. More information regarding gameplay will appear on the screen. At this time, only a single portal will be open. You can only use the Wii Remote for this section. At first, any stages not cleared will not be lit up and say "Stage Not Cleared" below the stage name. Anyway, hop on the first (and only) course trampoline to get started. /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\ /====================================================================\ \| |/ | 4.1 Normal Mode: Grade C (NRMC) | /| |\ \====================================================================/ \/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ The maximum strength level for password Pokémon before clearing this grade is 99. Obtaining a Pokémon with a strength of at least 100 will open the Battle Royal. =========================================== == QUIET FOREST (SHIZUKA NO MORI) == =========================================== == Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, Caterpie, == == Metapod, Butterfree, Pikachu, == == Jigglypuff, Wigglytuff, Paras, == == Parasect == =========================================== This is basically the introductory tutorial to how the game works. Messages appear explaining the basics of the game like attacking, having only three screws (turns), and returning to the Terminal through the pause menu. Area 1 ------ What you'll expect to see: Caterpie, Paras ------ Pulverize the Caterpie and Paras. A few coins will drop for you to collect. Be sure not to miss the coins as they can be used to buy new Pokémon and moves. Jump on the trampoline to go to the second area. Area 2 ------ Caterpie, Pikachu, Paras, Metapod ------ Instructions flash describing how felled Pokémon can be captured. Knock out the four Caterpie. Then knock out the Pikachu and pick it up. Follow the instructions to switch; it is more powerful than the Rattata. Use Pikachu to clear off the rest of the Pokémon in this area. Area 3 ------ Metapod, Butterfree, Caterpie ------ Another message will explain types and super effective hits. You might collect a Caterpie here. Area 4 ------ Caterpie, Paras, Bulbasaur ------ The next area is like the last: simple. A Paras can be yours for the taking. Boss ------ IVYSAUR, Bulbasaur ------ The final area has the boss. It might take quite a few hits to knock Ivysaur down. Be sure to avoid the Bulbasaur that keep spawning. I believe this one is a guaranteed capture, so fight hard, collect the prize money, grab the Ivysaur, and head out via the trampoline at the top. If you defeated everyone, you should have 74 defeated. After clearing this round, the other five courses and the seven kiosks will open. This guide will cover them in in this order: top-left, top-right, middle-left, middle-right, bottom-left, bottom-right. Multiplayer will also open up, allowing you to switch controllers or join a buddy if you please. The following five courses follow the same general pattern as Quiet Forest: four areas followed by a final boss. The tutorial is also over and you should be able to understand how to play the game well enough. =========================================== == WINDY MEADOW (KAZE NO DAISOUGEN) == =========================================== == Rattata, Raticate, Spearow, Fearow, == == Meowth, Persian, Farfetch'd, Doduo, == == Dodrio, Lickitung == =========================================== Area 1 ------ Spearow, Doduo, Rattata Area 2 ------ Rattata, Spearow, Meowth, Doduo Area 3 ------ Spearow, Doduo, Fearow, Rattata, Raticate, Meowth Area 4 ------ Spearow, Fearow, Meowth, Lickitung Boss ------ PERSIAN, Meowth ------ Not much to say other than to avoid Scratch. It might even help to bring a friend in to help. (But beware, if either of you faint, it's game over for both of you.) You also cannot switch, so come into battle with whoever you want to count as one of your battlers. A mix of different Pokémon from the previous stages are presented here. You have to clear a total of 62 Pokémon, three of which are the first generation evolutions of Eevee as bosses. Be sure to grab the clocks that they drop, but don't put yourself in danger to go after ones in well-guarded areas. Each one grants you five additional seconds to the 60-second timer. If you get it above 100 seconds, you don't really have to worry too much about time running out as you likely are already strong enough. But if it gets down below 15, you might want to start risking health for more time. If time runs out, it's game over, regardless of whether or not you have more screws remaining. Slowly work at knocking out all the weaklings until more appear. This will happen until the game presents you with Vaporeon, Jolteon, and Flareon. After clearing a Battle Royal once, you can come back and challenge it later to beat the speed record. The grade will increase as well as the strength level of all Pokémon obtained with a password. Hop on the new trampoline to go to Grade B. Tips & Tricks (TPTR) | /| |\ \====================================================================/ \/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ == SETTING FAVORITES == By setting a Pokémon as a favorite (- on Wii Remote, Z on GameCube), you can instantly access ones that you like or that are powerful at the top of the selection list. == SPARKLING POKÉMON == If a Pokémon sparkles, be sure to make an attempt to knock it out. These are guaranteed to be collectible and can sometimes be special varieties. == "SHINY" POKÉMON == Alternate colored ("shiny") Pokémon can very rarely be found instead of the normal coloration. Be sure to look for these, as they can be boasting material to your friends. Shiny Pokémon are indicated by a blue name and an abnormal color. They will also be shown in the collection with a star. If, for the life of you, you cannot find a shiny Pokémon, there are several freebies available by entering passwords. == USING RELEASE TICKETS TO YOUR ADVANTAGE == If you release five of the same Pokémon, a ticket from that Pokémon evolution line will appear. Specific special combinations of Pokémon, however, will cause a ticket for a different Pokémon to appear. A list of ticket combos can be found in the Ticketing section. == UNLOCKING SINNOH REGION POKÉMON == At first, it might appear like only Pokémon from the Kanto region are available in the game. If you complete the Normal mode, Another mode will open up, allowing you to capture Pokémon originally found in the Sinnoh region. As of right now, it is not known if Johto or Hoenn Pokémon are even in the game, because they cannot be unlocked through standard means and no passwords have yet revealed any from those regions. However, there is a possibility that the release of the Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver games on the DS may reveal more information. == USING PASSWORDS EARLY == Try using a few passwords at the beginning of the game. While it might somewhat be considered a form of cheating, this allows you to have the edge until a bit later. While the game does limit the strength numbers, your Pokémon will still have high stats compared to everything else. Here is a list of the strength limits at each grade (incomplete): Normal C: 99 Normal B: 199 Normal A: 399 Normal S: ? Another C: ? Another B: ? Another A: ? Another S: ? Extra: None == UNLOCKING BATTLE ROYAL == The list above is also the Battle Royal strength threshold. If you capture a Pokémon with a strength greater than the strength indicated there, the Battle Royal for that grade will open up. == RECOMMENDED MOVES == Several moves are very powerful, while others are very helpful. Here is a list of ones that work well. This list is prone to expansion. - Earthquake - Use this to deal much damage to a large-sized circle around your Pokémon. Very effective in Battle Royal. Moves that have a similar effect, like Seed Flare and Hidden Power, are also effective. - Leech Seed - To use this one well, fire a few shots at groups of Pokémon and step back. You'll steadily sap health from all Pokémon inflicted with Seeded status. This only works when you don't have full health and it does wear off. This attack also works against bosses. - Splash - Does nothing at all. This is a joke. :P - Stone Edge - Extermely powerful and can be used to hit Pokémon from a distance. - Thunder Wave - Paralyzes frontal Pokémon, allowing you to pass them or put a few hits in. - Whirlwind - Blows Pokémon a short distance away. Allows you to get away from danger. /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\ /====================================================================\ \| |/ | 10. Strength numbers are approximate and are a reporting of my findings. Your Pokémon's strength may vary. If you have not yet unlocked a higher grade, the number will be the maximum for that grade until you unlock the next one. For example, using any of these codes at the beginning of the game will show a strength of 99. ======================================================= | PASSWORD | POKÉMON | S | STRG | Ability | ======================================================= | 3884-9402 | Rattata | * | 388 | Speedy | | 5873-1954 | Eevee | | 415 | None | | 1923-1298 | Cherrim | | 489 | Daisuki Club | | 9236-7400 | Bibarel | | 1619 | Daisuki Club | | 2110-9011 | Pikachu | | 396 | Daisuki Club | | 8106-8836 | Zapdos | | 559 | Daisuki Club | | 6614-0248 | Mew | | 2271 | Daisuki Club | | 9966-1569 | Rotom | | 1664 | None | | 6295-6406 | Ninetales | | 1550 | None | | 9600-4319 | Charizard | | 1670 | None | | 7702-2229 | Leafeon | | 1640 | None | | 0331-4118 | Chimchar | | 1405 | Info Center | | 9986-3607 | Probopass | | 1718 | Pokémon Sunday | | 7653-3521 | Parasect | | 503 | Pokémon Sunday | | 7837-7094 | Shaymin SF | | 2293 | None | | 2405-3396 | Snorlax | | 544 | Pokémon Sunday | | 9266-8795 | Togekiss | | 1722 | None | | 0752-0878 | Regigigas | | 2331 | None | | 9338-1684 | Vaporeon | | 536 | Pokémon Sunday | | 3421-4198 | Giratina OF | | 2342 | None | | 3111-7449 | Electivire | | 2032 | None | | 1770-0982 | Bidoof | * | 1313 | Knockout | | 5958-6223 | Magmortar | | 2067 | None | | 9965-2344 | Weavile | | 1649 | Pokémon Sunday | | 3376-0940 | Dragonite | | 2220 | None | | 6998-4642 | Pikachu | * | 1337 | Mood-Maker | | 9721-3750 | Lucario | | 2105 | Director | | 6106-1639 | Magnezone | | 1783 | Pokémon Sunday | | 2219-8658 | Hippowdon | | 1690 | Pokémon Sunday | | 1824-8991 | Garchomp | | 2216 | None | | 6750-2839 | Gyarados | | 565 | Pokémon Sunday | | 8379-5196 | Bronzong | | ? | Pokémon Sunday | | 7213-6317 | Munchlax | | ? | ? | | 8473-9946 | Glaceon | | ? | ? | | 9465-8823 | Raichu | * | ? | ? | ======================================================= == AMERICAN VERSION PASSWORDS == ======================================================= | PASSWORD | POKÉMON | S | STRG | Ability | ======================================================= | 1589-3955 | Venusaur | | ? | ? | | 7540-5667 | Cherrim SU | | ? | ? | | 0511-0403 | Eevee | | ? | ? | | 9580-1423 | Blastoise | | ? | ? | | 9561-8808 | Mew | | ? | ? | | 8672-1076 | Turtwig | | ? | ? | | 7968-4528 | Charizard | | ? | ? | ======================================================= == EUROPEAN VERSION PASSWORDS == ======================================================= | PASSWORD | POKÉMON | S | STRG | Ability | ======================================================= | 5221-1368 | Mew | | ? | ? | | 5631-9548 | Eevee | | ? | ? | ======================================================= == AUSTRALIAN VERSION PASSWORDS == No passwords have yet been announced for the Australian version of this game. /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\ /====================================================================\ \| |/ | 11.
